While Expert Tips cover every game, Best Bets surface only the picks with the strongest win probability and a clear projected margin, so you can see where the model leans hardest.
How best bets are ranked: selections are ordered by model confidence (how far the win probability sits from a 50/50 toss-up). On the blind 2024–2025 test seasons the head-to-head model scored 68.9% accuracy (0.786 ROC-AUC).

A best bet is a fixture where the model rates one side clearly ahead, typically a win probability well above 60%, backed by a consistent margin projection. These are the games where team ELO, recent form and lineup strength all point the same way, rather than a coin-flip the model could go either way on.
A note on odds and value
Alphr does not yet have a live Super League odds feed, so these best bets are ranked on model confidence rather than bookmaker edge. When a reliable Super League odds source is connected, the same picks will also show implied probability and value (edge) like the NRL best bets. Until then, treat confidence as the ranking signal, not a price.
How many best bets per round?
It varies by round. Some rounds have several lopsided fixtures and others are wall-to-wall close contests, so the number of genuine best bets changes week to week. The model never forces a selection just to fill a slate, only games it is confident about are highlighted here.
