NRL Margin Tips 2026

NRL margin tips predict not just who wins, but by how much. Alphr's margin-band model forecasts whether the winning side will cover 1–12 points, 13+ points, or whether the match will end in a Draw — the standard Sportsbet margin market.

2025 Margin Model Results

  • • Strike rate: 60.4% (129 / 213 tips)
  • • ROI on flat $100 stakes: +14.8%
  • • Net profit: $3,148 across the full 2025 season

How Margin Bands Are Predicted

The NRL Margin Predictor is an XGBoost regression model trained on 18+ years of NRL matches. It outputs a continuous predicted margin (e.g. +9.4 to the home side), which is then mapped to the three Sportsbet bands:

  • 1–12 points — close, competitive games. Most common band.
  • 13+ points — blowouts. Higher odds, less frequent.
  • Draw — rare but priced at 30:1+.

The model's confidence interval around the predicted margin determines which band gets the tip. Tighter intervals near a band boundary are filtered out.

Why Margin Tips Often Beat Head-to-Head

Bookmakers price head-to-head markets sharply because they attract the most volume. Margin markets have wider edges because the public bets them less accurately. Alphr's 2025 ROI was therefore higher in margins (+14.8%) than in head-to-head tips despite a similar strike rate.
