**Miami Dolphins vs Los Angeles Chargers Prediction and Tips - NFL Week 6, 2025**

_By Ben Dunlop · Published: 13 Oct 2025, 04:00 am_

Miami Dolphins 27–29 Los Angeles Chargers in NFL Week 6 at Hard Rock Stadium. Here's how the result stacked up against the model's call, with the win-probability story and where the value landed.

Miami led at the break, 13-9, and looked like the team controlling the tempo. That lasted about as long as the changeroom snacks. The Chargers came out of the sheds and scored 20 unanswered across the third quarter and into the fourth, Ladd McConkey and Kimani Vidal both crossing to flip a four-point deficit into a ten-point lead, 23-13 by the end of the third.

Miami didn't fold, credit where it's due. De'Von Achane scored his second touchdown with 8:02 left in the fourth to make it a game again, and Darren Waller pulled it level at 26-26 with just 52 seconds on the clock. That's about as tight as a finish gets. Los Angeles Chargers answered with three more points before the siren to win it 29-27, and Miami were left holding nothing but the extra point they'd just kicked.

The stat sheet tells you why the Chargers were still standing at the end. They out-gained Miami 404 yards to 350, and the efficiency gap was the real story: plus 7.3 in expected points per the offensive EPA split, 12.4 to 5.1. That's not a team scraping by, that's a team moving the ball with purpose every time they had it.

Turnovers did the rest of the damage. Miami coughed it up three times to LA's one, and against a team playing with that kind of efficiency, three extra possessions is a gift you don't get back. Tua Tagovailoa's day summed it up: 21 of 32 for 205 yards and a touchdown, but three interceptions sitting next to his name. Justin Herbert, by contrast, went 29 of 38 for 264 yards and two touchdowns without the same self-inflicted wounds.

Individually Miami had the standout performer on the day. Achane ran for 128 yards on just 16 carries with two scores, the best backfield number in the game by a distance, which tracks given Miami came in rated stronger at quarterback, receiving corps and backfield across the board. McConkey was the Chargers' primary weapon in reply, seven catches for 100 yards and the score that put LA back in front in the third.

None of this should have been a shock. Alphr's model had the Chargers as 12.3-point favourites off ratings of 1522 to 1430, and gave them an 89% win probability. They got there, just not by the margin forecast, a two-point squeaker instead of the expected blowout gap. The projected total of 50 wasn't far off either, with 56 points actually going up on the board.

Form lines had flagged the gap too. Miami arrived on one win from their last five and conceding 29 points a game on average, exactly what showed up again here. The Chargers, despite a wobble to close their own last five, had the deeper offensive numbers when it mattered, and in a game this close, that's precisely the margin that decided it.
