**Kansas City Chiefs vs Detroit Lions Prediction and Tips - NFL Week 6, 2025**

_By Ben Dunlop · Published: 13 Oct 2025, 11:20 am_

Kansas City Chiefs 30–17 Detroit Lions in NFL Week 6 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Here's how the result stacked up against the model's call, with the win-probability story and where the value landed.

Plus 7.9 expected points. That was Kansas City's efficiency edge on a per-snap basis, and it's the number that explains a 30-17 win over Detroit Lions at Arrowhead that never felt as tight as the box score's first half suggested it might.

Marquise Brown scored twice, Patrick Mahomes and Xavier Worthy added one each, and that was enough even with Detroit's pass rush winning its individual battle. The Lions sacked Mahomes three times to Kansas City's one, which on paper should have rattled things. It didn't rattle the scoreboard.

The game opened tight. Worthy's score with 1:14 left in the first put Kansas City up 6-3, Jameson Williams answered early in the second to shift Detroit ahead 9-6, and Mahomes punched back in with 40 seconds left before halftime to make it 13-10 at the break. One score in it, nothing settled.

Then Kansas City pulled the game away in the third. Brown's touchdown at the 11:23 mark made it 19-10, and the Chiefs closed the quarter up 20-10. Detroit had one more push in them, Sam LaPorta's score with 14:20 left in the fourth cutting it to 20-16, but Brown's second touchdown at the 9:35 mark restored a two-score buffer and Kansas City ran it out from there, 30-17.

The yardage tells the same story as the EPA number. Kansas City finished with 369 total yards to Detroit's 301, 257 through the air to 203, and 112 on the ground to 98. Forty first downs to 31 is a fair chunk of daylight too. Mahomes went 22-of-30 for 257 yards and three touchdowns, Jared Goff answered with 23-of-29 for 203 and two, a tidy day statistically but not enough volume to match Kansas City snap for snap.

Travis Kelce was the top target on the field, six catches for 78 yards, doing the underneath work that kept Kansas City's chains moving even as Detroit's rush got home three times. Jahmyr Gibbs led all rushers with 65 yards on 17 carries, proof Detroit's backfield strength, rated 70 to Kansas City's 52 coming in, showed up in the run game even while the passing attack fell short of its receiving corps advantage. Detroit came in rated stronger at receiver, 75 to 59, and in the backfield, but neither edge translated into enough points against a Kansas City offence generating nearly eight expected points more efficiency across the game.

Form lines suggested this might run the other way. Detroit arrived on a four-game winning streak, averaging 34.8 points across their last five to Kansas City's 25, with a much healthier average margin. Kansas City had been the streakier, less convincing side, two wins in five with an average margin of just 3.6. None of that showed up here.

Alphr's model had Kansas City as 53% favourites with an expected margin of 3.3 points and a combined total of 62. The favourite held, and comfortably, the actual margin landing at 13 rather than the tighter number projected. The total undershot by 15 points, 47 delivered instead of 62, a game that turned more on stops and sacks than the shootout the pre-match numbers hinted at.
