**Philadelphia Eagles vs Denver Broncos Prediction and Tips - NFL Week 5, 2025**

_By Ben Dunlop · Published: 6 Oct 2025, 04:00 am_

Philadelphia Eagles 17–21 Denver Broncos in NFL Week 5 at Lincoln Financial Field. Here's how the result stacked up against the model's call, with the win-probability story and where the value landed.

Six sacks to two. That was the number sitting underneath everything Denver Broncos did at Lincoln Financial Field, and it's how they walked out with a 21-17 win over Philadelphia Eagles despite being outgained on paper in every column that usually matters less than pressure does.

Philadelphia led 17-3 at the end of the third quarter and looked, on the scoreboard at least, like a team cruising. Dallas Goedert had put them up 9-3 with 7:24 left in the second, Saquon Barkley made it 16-3 early in the third, and by the time the quarter closed Philadelphia had a comfortable 17-3 buffer. Then Denver scored twice in the space of five and a half minutes of the fourth: J.K. Dobbins with 13:16 left, Evan Engram with 7:43 left, and suddenly a laugher was a one-point game. Whatever Denver did after that, it held up.

The stat sheet explains why Philadelphia couldn't put it away. Denver finished with 372 total yards to Philadelphia's 325, and the rushing split tells the real story: 130 yards on the ground for Denver against just 45 for Philadelphia. That's not a small gap, that's a team getting bullied at the point of attack in the fourth quarter when it mattered most. J.K. Dobbins led all rushers with 79 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown, and Denver's forward push, backed by a backfield rated stronger than Philadelphia's coming in (54 to 47), showed up exactly where the numbers said it might.

Offensive EPA put a fine point on it: 5.1 for Denver against 0.2 for Philadelphia. Bo Nix wasn't spectacular through the air, 24 of 39 for 242 yards and a touchdown, but he wasn't asked to be. Jalen Hurts actually out-threw him on paper, 23 of 38 for 280 yards and two touchdowns, and DeVonta Smith was the best receiver on the field with 8 catches for 114 yards. None of it mattered enough, because Denver's pass rush turned Hurts's afternoon into a fight. Six sacks will do that to an offence, no matter how many yards it racks up between them.

Philadelphia came in as the form team, five straight wins against Denver's up-and-down 2-3 stretch, and an average margin of 7.6 points to Denver's razor-thin 1. The model liked them by 9.7 and gave them a 68% chance of winning. For three quarters that read looked sound. But form and ratings don't account for six sacks landing on your quarterback in the fourth, and Denver's pass rush, rated only marginally behind Philadelphia's on paper at 59 to 61, turned out to be the difference that no ledger fully captured beforehand.

Philadelphia's problem wasn't scoring, it was closing. Once the ground game dried up to 45 yards for the day, there was nothing left to lean on when Denver started finding answers. Denver's own recent form was patchy, a 2-3 look over the last five, but two of the moving parts, the ground game and the rush, were exactly the ones that flipped this result. The model missed the margin by more than five and a half points and picked the wrong side outright. Fair to say the sack column deserved more weight than it got.

**Model Report Card**

Denver Broncos defied the model's 68% prediction for Philadelphia Eagles, a notable upset. The margin model missed here, predicting 9.7 but the actual margin was 4 points. A tough result for the model, all 3 picks missed on this one.

**Referee Watch**

Adrian Hill officiated this match (112 career games). The combined score of 38 points was 7 points below Adrian Hill's career average of 45. Denver Broncos bucked the trend, Philadelphia Eagles historically win 50% of games under Adrian Hill, but couldn't convert that edge today.
