**New York Jets vs Buffalo Bills Prediction and Tips - NFL Week 2, 2025**

_By Ben Dunlop · Published: 15 Sept 2025, 03:00 am_

New York Jets 10–30 Buffalo Bills in NFL Week 2 at MetLife Stadium. Here's how the result stacked up against the model's call, with the win-probability story and where the value landed.

James Cook had the Jets' defence beaten before the first quarter was out. His opening touchdown made it 6-0 with 7:33 left in the first, and by the time he crossed again with nine minutes gone in the second, Buffalo led 19-0. New York's first points didn't arrive until a field goal made it 3-20 at the break, and that gap never looked like closing.

Final score: Buffalo Bills 30, New York Jets 10. Twenty points is a proper margin in this league, and nothing about the second half suggested a fightback was coming. Elijah Moore's touchdown to open the fourth quarter pushed it to 29-3, and Jeremy Ruckert's score with 3:30 left was purely academic.

The stat sheet backs up what the scoreboard already said. Buffalo outgained New York 404 yards to 183, ran for 224 of it, and did all that while winning the turnover battle 1-0 in their favour. Add four sacks to New York's one, and Offensive EPA of plus-10 against minus-13.9, and you've got a team that was comfortable in every phase.

Cook was the head act, 132 yards on 21 carries plus his two scores, and it lines up with the pre-match read: Buffalo's backfield was rated 65 to New York's 53, the widest positional gap on the sheet, and it showed up exactly where you'd expect. Josh Allen didn't need to do much, 14 of 25 for 148, but he did enough. Tyrod Taylor went 7 of 11 for 56 and a touchdown for New York, tidy without ever threatening to close the gap, and Garrett Wilson's 4 catches for 50 yards were about as good as it got going forward for the home side.

New York's issue wasn't effort, it was the mismatch showing up everywhere at once. Their quarterback rating going in was 54 to Buffalo's 68, their backfield 53 to 65, and both gaps played out almost to the letter on the day. Their own form had been shaky too, two wins from the last five against Buffalo's three, and an average margin of minus-3.8 points a game coming in. Buffalo, by contrast, had been winning close and losing close, an average margin of plus-3.4, and this one blew well past their recent range in the other direction.

Alphr's model had Buffalo favoured at 61% and expected them to win by 5.2 on a projected total of 51. They got the winner right. The margin is where it fell over, badly: five-odd points forecast, twenty actual, one of the bigger misses you'll see on a margin call this season.

Buffalo did the damage early and let the clock do the rest. Cook's double, a tidy day from Allen, and a defence that hurried Taylor into a rough afternoon added up to a laner than the numbers even suggest. New York got a token score late through Ruckert and not much else. Wins and misses, all of it, and this week the model nailed the who but not the by-how-much.
