**New York Giants vs Washington Commanders Prediction and Tips - NFL Week 15, 2025**

_By Ben Dunlop · Published: 15 Dec 2025, 05:00 am_

New York Giants 21–29 Washington Commanders in NFL Week 15 at MetLife Stadium. Here's how the result stacked up against the model's call, with the win-probability story and where the value landed.

Half-time in East Rutherford had Washington up 22-7, and it wasn't hard to see how they'd got there. Jacory Croskey-Merritt opened the scoring before the first quarter was even done, Jaylin Lane added another with 1:20 left in the half, and the Giants' only response was a Tyrone Tracy Jr. touchdown that barely dented the gap. Washington led by 15 at the break. Most nights that's game over.

It wasn't, quite. Tracy scored again with 11:55 left in the third to get New York to 14-22, and the Giants sat seven back heading into the fourth after a scoreless third quarter for Washington. Terry McLaurin restored a two-score buffer early in the final period, and although Wan'Dale Robinson's touchdown with 3:49 left cut it back to eight, that's as close as it got. Final score: Washington Commanders 29, New York Giants 21.

The stat sheet reads like a team that should have won. New York outgained Washington 392 yards to 356, picked up 31 first downs to 28, posted an offensive EPA of 1.4 against Washington's 0.1, and gave the ball away just once compared to Washington's two turnovers. On paper that's a comfortable Giants win. On the scoreboard it's an eight-point loss, and the touchdown count tells the real difference: Washington scored three times before halftime, New York only twice all night through three quarters.

Jaxson Dart threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns on 20-of-36, but the interception came at a cost the yardage doesn't reflect. Marcus Mariota needed only 19 attempts to get 211 yards and a touchdown of his own, an efficient outing that doesn't leap off a stat sheet but did enough. Croskey-Merritt led every rusher on the field, 96 yards on 18 carries and a score, doing it against a Giants backfield that was rated well above Washington's, 63 to 45, coming in.

Theo Johnson was the Giants' best target by some distance, three catches for 72 yards, but one standout target wasn't enough to change the shape of the game. Washington's edge in the passing and rushing columns overall was thin, 211 to 246 through the air and 145 to 146 on the ground, yet they still found four touchdowns to New York's three, and it was the timing of Washington's scores, three of them before halftime, that did the real damage.

Both sides arrived off five-game losing runs, so form wasn't a factor either way. New York had the extra rest, 13 days to Washington's seven, and outgained their opponent in almost every column that usually matters. It just didn't turn into the right number on the board when it counted, which is often how these one-score losses go.

Alphr's model had Washington favoured to win at 57 percent, with an expected margin of 2.3 points and a combined total of 45. The final margin was eight and the combined score landed on 50, close enough that the model's read on this one holds up.
