**Washington Commanders vs Detroit Lions Prediction and Tips - NFL Week 10, 2025**

_By Ben Dunlop · Published: 10 Nov 2025, 08:25 am_

Washington Commanders 22–44 Detroit Lions in NFL Week 10 at FedExField. Here's how the result stacked up against the model's call, with the win-probability story and where the value landed.

Detroit Lions won 44-22 at FedExField, and on paper that looks like a competitive night that got away from Washington late. It wasn't. The Lions led 25-10 at half-time and never came close to being caught, and the yardage gap, 546 to 306, tells you this was a beating dressed up as a shootout.

Washington actually got the scoreboard moving with something to say for itself, down just 6-3 after the first Jahmyr Gibbs touchdown before Amon-Ra St. Brown made it 13-3 with under two minutes left in the quarter. That was as close as it got. Gibbs scored again early in the second to push it to 20-3, Chris Rodriguez Jr. answered for Washington, but Detroit closed the half up 25-10 and the pattern was set: every time Washington found six points, Detroit had an answer ready within a possession or two.

The third quarter was where it turned from a loss into a rout. Jameson Williams scored to make it 31-10, Deebo Samuel Sr. hit back, but Detroit still led 35-16 heading into the fourth. Gibbs completed his hat-trick early in the final quarter for 41-16, and although Ben Sinnott's touchdown made the final margin look almost respectable at 44-22, the game had been decided long before that.

The efficiency numbers explain why Washington could never close the gap. Detroit ran for 226 yards, 41 per cent of their total output, against a Washington defence that had no way of slowing the ground game down. Offensive EPA had Detroit at 32.3 against Washington's 9, a gap of 23.3 expected points snap for snap. Zero turnovers apiece means neither side beat itself. Detroit just did more with what they had, every time they had it.

Jared Goff went 25 of 33 for 320 yards and three touchdowns, comfortably outpointing Marcus Mariota's tidy but overmatched 16 of 22 for 213 and two scores. Jameson Williams was the biggest weapon in the passing game with 6 catches for 119 yards and a touchdown, but the real story was on the ground, where Gibbs put up 142 yards on just 15 carries to go with his three touchdowns. Two sacks from Detroit's pass rush against none allowed capped off a day where Washington had no real answer anywhere on that side of the ball.

None of it should surprise anyone who looked at the pre-match numbers. Detroit came in rated stronger at every position group, backfield 61 to 49, receiving corps 65 to 49, and the form lines matched: three wins from five for Detroit against one for Washington, who'd been conceding 29 points a game coming in. Alphr's model had Detroit favourites at 91 per cent and picked the margin at 12.8. The Lions won by 22, and the 66 total points landed 19 clear of the projected 47. Big picture, the model called the winner with no fuss. The scale of it, that's the part that ran away from everyone.
