Carlton 77–100 Melbourne in AFL Round 3 at MCG. Here's how the result stacked up against the model's call, with the win-probability story and where the value landed.

Alphr's model had Carlton winning this by 8.1 points, backed by a 66% probability. Melbourne won by 23. That is not a near miss, that is the model getting the result and the margin wrong in the same afternoon.

And for three quarters it looked like the model knew exactly what it was talking about. Carlton led 38–1 at quarter time and 46–12 at the half. By three-quarter time it was 62–50.
